copper stands below hydrogen in reactivity series. so it does not react wid HCl as it cannot displace hydrogen?
So copper should not react with nitric acid and sulphuric acid too as it wont be able to displace hydrogen from it
But copper does react with nitric acid and sulphuric acid. how???
Plz help if my concepts are wrong
HNO3 is an oxidizing agent when Cu reacts with this cu act as reducing agent and certianly cu does not replac H2 from this but reduce HNO3 to either NO or NO2
H2SO4 is also oxidizing agent and Cu reduces this into SO2
in both case Cu does not repleace H2 .so no Violation of electrochemical series
